Many kilometers call for smoothness

If you drive in Flevoland, you cover kilometers: long straight stretches, little standing still, a lot of commuting toward the A6 and the A28. With that use, it is not peak power that counts, but how smoothly an engine pulls at low revs. That is what we set up an optimization for.

Is ECU tuning possible with high mileage?

Yes, as long as the engine is mechanically healthy. If you doubt that, we look at it first before we modify anything. The process is otherwise the same for every car: we read out the original software and keep it as a backup, tune the maps within the factory margins and finish with a test drive in which we check the turbo pressure, among other things. On average your car is with us about 2.5 hours; if you want to keep going in the meantime, a courtesy car is available.

Besides the engine software, we can adjust the shift points and torque limiters of an automatic transmission. That helps especially with cars that upshift too early and therefore feel sluggish. At higher mileages we also get questions about warnings around AdBlue, EGR and the particulate filter. What is and is not allowed there depends on how and where the car is used, so we always discuss that in person first.
