When is a polish worth it?
A polish pays off as soon as the paint feels rough or you see circular scratches in the sun. Specifically:
- The paint feels rough under your flat hand, even right after washing.
- In the sun or under a street light you see circular scratches.
- Water sits in flat puddles on the roof instead of beading off cleanly.
- You are about to return a lease or company car and want no discussion about its condition.
- You just bought the car and want to start with a clean, protected base.
What does a ceramic coating do?
A ceramic coating lays a hard top layer over the paint, so dirt and water stick less and washing goes faster. For longer protection we build up two layers, such as BLINDO with HPC, SAM with HPC or STC with HPC. Which combination makes sense depends on the condition of the paint and whether the car is kept indoors or outdoors.
Why polish first and only then coat?
A coating seals the paint as it is at that moment, including every scratch underneath. That is why we first wash by hand, remove sap, tar, rail dust and insect remains with clay, and polish from coarse to fine until the paint is smooth. Only then does the coating go on.
How do you keep a coated car clean?
By hand, with products that do not attack the coating, so not with the brushes of the car wash. The web shop carries the detailing products we use in the workshop ourselves: snow foam for the pre-wash, a shampoo that leaves the coating intact, wheel cleaner against brake dust, glass cleaner and microfiber towels from Labocosmetica and Koch Chemie.
